Now that we have a fibre optic internet feed, it has become clear that we must replace our WiFi network. The current system on the property has been in place for well over a decade and there have been a number of upgrades over the years. But there is no getting away from the fact that it is a limited system that was built in an ad hoc manner. With the addition of the high speed wireless connection 3 years ago and now the fibre connection, the demand for streaming entertainment and video conferencing has been steadily growing. We need a WiFi system that will allow all of our members and guests, throughout the campground and recreational spaces, to all watch Netflix, and other streaming video providers, simultaneously. It was a difficult decision but the conclusion is to completely scrap the existing system and replace it with a new, state-of-the-art engineered system. So after about three months of investigations and negotiations we have signed a $70,000 contract to design and install new equipment. We are a bit shell shocked by the cost but we are confident that it will be the properly engineered and supported system that we need. The network engineering company we hired is based in Texas and has a lot of experience with crowded facilities like campgrounds. The equipment that has being specified in the design is by Ruckus Networks. The installation is scheduled for the month of May. With the new system, there will no longer be any limitations on the number of people that can access the Bare Oaks Premium network which has unrestricted speed and unlimited data use. That premium service will be available by the day, week, month, or year. Both the basic and premium WiFi services will also give you access to our video library and live local television channels.
We agree that it is important to disconnect once in a while and Bare Oaks is a great place to do that. But internet has become the main way we communicate and entertain ourselves.
