In the spring, a new business started in Mount Albert, just a few kilometres from Bare Oaks: The Rail Yard Wake Park It features wake boarding behind a cable line. No boats or motors – just a strong, fast, smooth and quiet pull from a cable line.
Cable parks have been around since the 1960s beginning in Germany and the scene has been growing rapidly in North America over the last 10 years. Rail Yard Wake Park is the 4th straight-line cable park to open in Ontario and the first with two lines! Rail Yard drivers/operators are certified Water Ski Wakeboard Ontario (WSWO) Level I Instructors.
The owners, Ross, Christine and Ian, are good friends of Bare Oaks and have offered a special deal for Bare Oaks members and visitors:
It’s the “We Have You Covered” Offer
Free rental equipment (a $10 value) that can be used all day
Just say that you are “from Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park”
You don’t have to be an expert to do it. They’ll show you how. But if you are experienced, there are also jumps and rails to do some tricks.
Sadly, it is a clothing-required place so you’ll have to get a special (but useless) item of textile called a bathing suit. But the owners didn’t seem opposed to having a special clothing-free event for us. So perhaps we’ll try to organize one if there’s enough interest.
