Yes, Lake Beamor is safe for swimming! In addition to testing the well water every two weeks (which we must do by law) we also test the lake water occasionally. (which we are not required to do) We use SGS Canada Inc., an independent laboratory, to do all our water testing. Bacteria level is measured in colony-forming units (cfu) per 100 mL. The E.Coli limit at which a swimming ban/notice is posted varies by jurisdiction. In Ontario, it is 100 cfu.  In Alberta, B.C., & Quebec, it is 200 cfu.  In our latest test, the E.Coli in the lake at Bare Oaks was 024 which isRead More →

Since Bruce first built the community gardens in 2010, we have been doing Square Foot Gardening. It’s a more environmentally friendly way to garden where you get the same production but in only 20% of the space. It is easy plus it saves water, resources, time and effort. There is a video on YouTube that explains it well. This year Bruce rebuilt the 4′ x 4′ raised beds and he 4’x4′ and are now available for planting.  He provided the labour and Bare Oaks paid for the materials so using the garden is free for members. They are available on a first come, first servedRead More →

We are told that it is also a fun day that many people look forward to. A big thank you to the multitude of people willing to give up their time to make Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park a better place. Volunteer Day –  Saturday May 14, 2016 10am to 3pm Everyone is welcome! Lunch will be provided, free of charge, for all volunteers by the Bare Bistro. Jobs varyRead More →

For the first time, the Bare Bistro has been opened through the winter. We kept that news relatively quiet because it was a test. Restaurant operations were serviced by the person in charge of the office and store. That meant that when a member or visitor wanted a meal or drink, the team member had to close the office and switch to the restaurant kitchen. It was not the fastest service and the menu had to be limited due to the low volume. But at least it was possible to have a drink, a snack, lunch or an early dinner by the fire inRead More →

We are sad to announce that Larry Bean passed away last Sunday. For five year, he and his wife Carol owned and operated The New Forest Naturist Resort which was sold in 2006 and renamed Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park. It started in 2001 when they purchased the assets of Town & Country Resorts Inc out of bankruptcy. The property had once been the Toronto Helios Society and it was their plan to return it to nudism. For the next 5 years, they did a number of renovations. Of those, their most enduring legacy at the park was the creation Lake Beamor. (a combination ofRead More →
